Devlog.02 - News & Progress

Hi everyone,

It’s been a little over 2 weeks since my last update, and I’m excited to share what’s been happening behind the scenes! Your feedback has been incredibly valuable, and I’m thrilled to be working on the next phase of improvements.

Here’s what I’ve been up to:

  • Custom Art Assets: I’ve been busy creating original art assets to replace the RTP ones. This includes so far new character sprites and map tilesets. The goal is to give the game a unique and personalized visual style that stands out and enhances the overall experience.
  • New Battle UI: I’ve revamped the battle UI to improve the visual presentation and make it more intuitive. The new design should offer a more polished and engaging combat experience, plus the previous one was not looking good on the new resolution.
  • Enhanced Music: I’ve switched the game’s music to original tracks, moving away from RTP music to provide a more immersive and unique audio experience.
  • Native 1920x1080 Resolution: The game now supports a native 1920x1080 fullscreen resolution, giving you a clearer and more detailed view of the action.
  • Hand-Drawn Art for Menus and Battles: To add a personal touch, I’ve created hand-drawn art for the character menus and battle scenes. This should make interactions feel more engaging and visually distinct.

Important Update:

To ensure that the store reflects the quality of the final product, I will be disabling the current free-to-play prototype version that was done for the Pirate GameJam. I’ve gathered valuable feedback from it, and the game is now evolving beyond that initial prototype. Your input has been instrumental in shaping the game, and I’m excited to share the polished version with you soon.

Upcoming Goals:

I’m continuing to work on the other improvements listed in the previous update, including new dungeon types, expanded content, and enhanced environmental interactions. We're going on Steam in a couple days and our goal to have a polished playable demo ready for Steam Nextfest in October 2024 remains intact!

Thank you once again for all your support and feedback. If you enjoyed the prototype and are excited about these updates, make sure to follow the project here on itch.io for more news and updates!

Stay tuned for more, and keep supporting indie games!
